Spaces, pages and the editor

An editor worthwriting things down in

Spaces by team or topic, pages nested as deep as they need to go, and an editor with the blocks real documentation uses: panels, tables, code, checklists, a table of contents and live links into Varynt Work and Desk.

[ 01 ] How it works

From a blank page to a published one

  1. 01

    Pick a space

A team, a topic or a project. Start it empty or from a starter (team, knowledge base, project) that lays out its first pages.

  2. 02

    Start the page

Blank, or from one of 18 built-in templates or your own. Type / for any block.

  3. 03

    Write; it saves itself

Your draft saves as you go and stays yours. Readers keep seeing the published version.

  4. 04

    Publish

Readers see it; watchers are told; the version goes into the page history, which keeps the newest 50.

[ 02 ] The editor

The blocks documentation needs

  • Slash commands

Headings, bulleted, numbered and check lists, tables, quotes, dividers and code blocks, from one menu.

  • Panels and expandable sections

Info, note, success, warning and error panels for what must not be missed; collapsible sections for what can wait.

  • Table of contents, status and date

A contents block that follows the headings, coloured status labels and dates inside the text.

  • @mentions

Name a colleague on the page and they are told, by email and in the app.

  • Links to pages, tasks and leads

Link another page, a Varynt Work task or a Varynt Desk lead; the chip shows its live status.

  • Images and files

On the page they belong to, up to 25 MB each, kept in Knowledge's own storage and checked against your access on every download.

[ 03 ] Structure

Pages people can find their way around

  • Unlimited spaces and nested pages

As deep as the subject needs. Move a page, with everything under it, to another place or another space.

  • Copy a page or a whole branch

Duplicate a page, with or without the pages under it, as the start of the next one.

  • Readable addresses

Every page has a readable address, and links keep working after a rename or a move.

  • Templates of your own

Save any page as a template for your workspace, filed by category beside the built-in ones.

  • My space

A private space for every person, for drafts and notes nobody else can see.

  • Stars, favourites and recent

Star the spaces you live in, favourite pages, and pick up where you left off from recently viewed.

  • Archive and trash

Archive what is finished without deleting it. Deleted pages wait 30 days in the trash before they are gone.

[ 05 ] Questions

Asked before buying

Can two people edit a page at the same time?
Not live in the same editor: there is no real-time co-editing. You see who else has the page open in the editor, and a save made on top of somebody else's newer change is refused with a message, never silently overwriting it.
Is the content locked into a format?
No. Pages are stored as Markdown with a few extensions, and any page exports to Word or Markdown.
Is there an app for phones?
There is no native app; Knowledge runs in the browser, phones included.
